A walk between land and sea in Locoal-Mendon

Locoal-Mendon, a commune in the Morbihan South This little-known region has some very pretty, unsuspected spots that are a must-see.

Get back in touch with nature, clear your mind and smell the wooded air... then admire the beauty of the sea, its activity and breathe in its iodised air. If you're lucky, you'll spot some rare Breton birds, depending on the season.

 

An easy walking route to discover the Ria d'Étel

A lovely three-kilometre walk along the banks of the Ria d'Étel awaits you, with plenty to discover along the way. Wooded path, remarkable trees, exceptional views over the Ria d'Eteloyster beds, gorse bushes, pretty little coves... this hiking circuit in Brittany has everything to please you!

To get there, head towards Locoal-Mendon, then follow "Pointe de la Forest". At the end of this road, you'll come to a car park. The starting point is here.

The walk begins on a fairly wide, wooded path. The path then becomes narrower, lined with low moss-covered stone walls.

A few metres further on, on an embankment, is the Cadoudal cacheThis is the home of General Chouan, well known for his many feats of arms during the Revolution. Inside this hideout, there is a small area where you can imagine the Chouans hiding, preparing an ambush for the Republicans. L'Chouanne history is steeped in history.

At the end of the walk, a small clearing in the centre of which stands a ancient oak breathtaking. Remarkable trees, roots flush with the ground and branches are the order of the day on this part of the walk.

The path then leads to a magnificent panorama of the Ria d'Ételat Beg Lannec. Depending on the tides, you can spot oyster beds and pretty little beaches. Walk along the Ria, look at the horizon and discover Saint-CadoSaint Helena and several smaller islands.

The walk continues, punctuated by tall pines, gorse and beaches.

Then comes the end of this hiking in Morbihan. Take the road on the left to get back to the car park.
